My first course that I attended from TRESS ACADEMIC was ‘Coping with the challenges of a PhD’. As PhD candidates, we think mostly about our own research scope, as well as the relevance of that work within our field, but very rarely about the “side things”. During the course, I discovered the crucial importance of all the “details” around a PhD, like administration, communication with supervisors, and planning the project, which were clarified before I was even confronted with these issues. Thanks to the course I was prepared to face these challenges as they popped up one-by-one during my PhD study. I knew where to look, whom to ask and how to react. Therefore, I didn’t waste my precious time and energy trying to find a solution and could focus fully on my work.
Doing this course within the first months of my doctoral studies was the best decision I took. Thanks to the course booklet, I have the information always at hand, even when I need it some months or even years later.”
