How to build your
1-day live virtual course
Why join a course on building a personal brand?
The way how you present yourself to colleagues, employers or the public has a vital influence on how you will be perceived as an academic. In research collaboration as well as in outreach activities, the people you deal with are interested in you as a person, not only as an academic researcher. If you want recognition for the good work you do and expect others to embrace your qualifications, you need to build your personal brand in academia.
What you learn?
Identify your personal values, qualifications and your specific approach in academia that differentiates you from others. Define a goal for your career path and devise a strategy for your branding. We’ll show you how you can use your brand to reach your personal goal and how to frame it around your core values. Most of all, you will learn how to set up your academic brand, how to communicate effectively, and which channels and tools to use.
Who benefits most?
Early-career researchers, PhD candidates, postdocs, and all those researchers who aim to further develop their career paths in academia and research-related professions. It is also very suitable for academics in the early phase of the job application process.
What topics do we cover?
In this course, you’ll learn to appreciate the benefits of building your brand. You’ll understand how credibility and reliability are essential pillars of your brand. A particular emphasis of the course is on how you create awareness of your personal brand through communication and presentation channels. We’ll look at how to use social media platforms and websites, how to communicate your research to a wider audience, and also what communication style to use in presentations or in communication with peers.
